The Ever Changing SEO Game

We are currently living in an increasingly digital world, higher rankings in the search results can help your business achieve its goals. The just of it is the higher you rank in Google the more likely your business is to be seen, and therefore more traffic that will come into your website. The start of all this is Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short.

As time goes on the search engine’s change the rules. The days of keyword stuffing and purchasing back-links are over. Search engines continue to improve their algorithms, consistently gaining intelligence. So when it comes to Search Engine Optimization, how do we stay relevant?

Get the Word out!

Start with Local SEO. The more places you business can be found on the web the better. Increase the amount of direct links to your website. Make sure your information is consistent across all of your citations.

Try developing a way to acquire online reviews. Whats very important is making what you have to say – relevant –  so that people want to share it.

Getting the word out about your website, comes down to having consistent active social profiles where you are able to. Search engines take in online reviews and mentions of your business in your Social Media accounts.

Make your Content genuine!

If you have ever done any research into SEO you have probably come across the word “keyword’s” quite a few times. Keywords are a large contributor to your search ranking. This being said you have to be wary about over doing it with key words. The days of “stuffing” or “spamming” keywords are over. Search engines want the same thing the consumer wants. Genuine content that is easy to read.

With that, Google and other search engines can now detect when you’re spamming with key word repetition. So keep in mind, while you are developing copy and content for your website you should be thinking about your audience first and foremost, dont think about the Search Engine’s! What you are writing should feel natural and in turn your keywords will automatically appear in your content,

More and more we are seeing people change the way they search online. Rather than searching for specific keywords people are becoming more inclined to search a question. So writing your content with to sound more natural will work in your favor.

Try and anticipate the questions your target clients may be asking when it come to the services or products you provide. Remember your URLs need to be in a fashion that Google can understand and index appropriately, try not to have a bunch of mismatched and jumbled numbers and letters in your URLs.

Is your site Mobile Friendly?

Is your website mobile friendly? If you answered NO contact a web developer straight away. Mobile search is consistently beating out desktop searches and only continues to rise. More and more people are turning to their smartphone and tablets to search for the service and products that want. Its time to go Mobile,

Mobile friendly sites rank higher in the search results (SERPS). This is fact, Google announced a few years ago Mobile-first indexing, stating “our algorithms will…primarily use the mobile version of a site’s content to rank pages from that site”.

Its not only good to have a responsive design for Google and the search engines. Its better for your clients! The majority of the population use smart phones for a wide variety of services. Make sure you are not missing out on all that potential business with and outdated non-responsive website,
